So Friday's page MAY be late. Maybe even on Saturday. Maybe
not. Some things in life came up and I got a little over-loaded.
As of this writing, I still haven't even put pencil to paper
for it. Got some story issues with that page. Another 'I know
what I want, but I don't know what I want' type thing. I got
the next few pages plotted out in the ol' head space, but the
next one is a bit of stumper. I'll have an epiphany some time
soon and all will be well.
Check back on Friday to see if the page is up, if not come
back Saturday and it'll be up then.
But in the meantime, GO BUY SOME COMICS!

A while back, I posted that I was know on Facebook. I am.
I've been told that I did not inform y'all of the name I was
under on Facebook. It's under, 'Chris Medellin'. The picture
currently in the profile is the same as the 'Who Is This Guy?'
page. So far, this year, I seem to have a steady stream of people
taking a gander at my web-comic. I hope y'all stick around. I
think I'm doing a really kick ass story and it's just going to
get better.
That thunder and lightning you saw in my eyes? Brainstorm.
As I've said before, I have this story semi-plotted out. Some
bits I want to hit, but everything is in flux. When Volcan was
telling Judah about the doors? That was going to be someone else
telling it. Lady Anamel attacking the school. Different villain,
different attack. Aysuni got some lines that Lienne was going
to have, because I started to see Lienne as much younger than
I intially thought of. (She's around 17 or so.) Things evolve.
As I was working on these upcoming pages, had a real killer-diller
idea that's too good to pass up. Still no end in sight. Still
have a bunch of stuff, I haven't even got to yet. Still having
fun.
If you are, let me know, with that nifty 'Contact Me' button
to the left of this blog, and drop me an e-mail.

I did a M.A.S.H. quote. One of the greatest shows ever.
It seems the internet censorship bill is starting to get beat
down to an unrecognizable pulp and flushed out. I guess after
carefully explaining to Congress, again, that they don't make
wax cylinders for their phonographs anymore, they brought in
some random 12 year olds to explain to them how the internet
actually works. My website did not go black in protest. I did
that last year, when I didn't renew my domain name in time. I
did it before it was cool.
It's supposed to be in the'60's and '70's this weekend?! It's
WINTER. I got my good coat ready to wear. C'mon, now!
All right. Y'all have a great weekend. See y'all on Monday.

Cat-Fight! Cat-Fight! Cat-Fight! Reooowwrrr! Heh, heh, heh.
Meretrix. Thesaurus' are cool. Is it s' or s's? I can't ever
remember. I'm sure someone will tell me. Anyway, this page went
through a few written permutations. Still not sure if it works
entirely, but it's what I got. Some of the inks are really flat
on this page. The ladies aren't coming out as well as I want.
Just gotta keep working at it, until I do. I MAY be having a
skip week. I need to take some time off and deal with my Aunt's
stuff. Or at the very least, help my mom go through stuff to
see what things are worth. We're planning on taking it to auction
or something like that and we need to know what we are dealing
with, so we don't get ripped-off. We are already aware of the
fact that we, if we're lucky, are probably only going to get
half of anything we sell. But we need to know, the half of what?
Sold some stuff to Half-Price books, which helped me to buy
the next two Game of Throne books. I'm still a 150 pages or so
from the first, and I have things in my 'literary queue' that
I'm going to read first, but it's nice to know I gots them and
can get to them when I want to.
All righty then, GO BUY SOME COMICS! I actually bought some
of mine last night, and hopefully buy the time y'all read this,
I've read some of them.

Didn't buy a lottery ticket. When I got home Friday night,
I just wanted to stay in. Did watch my Amazon gifts. Or at least
a few episodes. Captain Power is still a show made to sell
toys, but the writers and producers didn't look at it that way.
Some cheese in it, it is a kid's show from the '90's, but the
writing is way ahead of what it could have been. There was a
good reason the TV movie never aired in the US. Not that it was
bad at all. The TV show would have been changed a bit, there
was a finality to some of the characters in it. Plus what they
had planned for the second season, before Mattel pulled the plug,
would have made it 'a must' viewing. Oh, well. Like another kid's
program that was better than it should have been, 'Land of the
Lost', at least it's on DVD so I can re-visit anytime I want
to. The blinky neon chest guards and 'targets' on the Dread soldiers
and vehicles that you are supposed to 'shoot' with your Captain
Power ships is a bit distracting, but it's something I'll live
with.
I kinda wish I had one, when I'm watching it though.
Now Justified is still amazing. I've gone through 4 or so
episodes, it's just as sharp as the first time I saw it. The
3rd season comes on this week, and I think Amazon will be streaming
it for $2 an episode. I may just have to invest. I just wished
that if I did do that, they would give me a discount on the blu
ray/dvd when they come out.

Friday the 13th. Maybe I should buy a lottery ticket. With
the way my life goes, maybe I'll win something. But then the
way my life goes, I probably wont. So anyway, before my Aunt
passed she sent me a $75 Amazon gift card. Last thursday, I spent
it. I got: Captain Power: The Complete Series DVD, Justified
Season 1 Blu-Ray, 'all the earth, thrown to the sky' by Joe R.
Lansdale, 'How to Cook Everything' 10th anniversary edition by
Mark Bittman and Super-Friends Season One, Part 2, all for $21
out of my pocket.
I've watched the first couple of episodes of Captain Power.
A TV show meant to sell toys, being way to well written and smart.
The quality is just above VHS, but according to Gary Goddard
it's the best quality they had. Oh, well, it's all 22 episodes,
plus a TV movie that was never aired in the US, plus a host of
extras.
The Super-Friends DVD is the one with the Green Arrow episode,
so I had to get that. I am a fan of Justified, so a chance to
re-watch is just awesome. So y'all know what I'll be doing this
weekend. Y'all, have a great weekend.

I love me a good time travel story. Maybe that's one of the
reasons I like Dr. Who so much. I have been a fan when the only
way to see it is PBS on Saturday nights or, if you had cable
WGN would show an hour every morning Monday through Friday. Back
when Dr. Who was still considered a children's program, a serialized
30 minute show. The Tom Baker years. Yeah, I know there were
3 Doctors before him, and the Pertwee episodes were shown before
they aired the Baker stuff, but Baker was the Doctor for SEVEN
years. Ever so often I think of writing an actual time travel
story, but then I get sidetracked on other things. As a storyteller,
I'd like to tackle every genre out there. I can add a bit here
and there to the stories I'm doing now. I've done it. But I'd
like to come up with some that are, 'This is MY ROMANCE story',
'This is MY MYSTERY story', 'This is MY SCIENCE FICTION story'
and stuff like that. Who knows. Maybe it'll happen.
Anyway, it's Wednesday. GO BUY SOME COMICS!

Still hacking my way through the first Game of Thrones book.
It's a great book, but time is limited. Between work, normal
household stuff, this web-comic, friends, family, and other things
vying for my attention, it's hard to get some reading done. I
try to get 30 minutes or so a day, but the holidays made a mess
of that. I'm back into it. Read for whole chunks of Saturday
and Sunday. I'll eventually get the rest of the series (so far)
and get through those. Plus the eight or so books I have on my
shelf that I need to read.
I used to read two or three books at a time. Read a few chapters
or another book entirely and then pick up one I had started,
looked to see where I was in it and then continued reading it.
Ah, the good old days.

Just to point out to all y'all, Aysuni brings stuff to the
table.
So this week was fun. Emphasis on the FU. So had a bit of
squabble with iPage. They're my web-site provider, and usually
they are pretty amazing and helpful and whole bucket full of
positve adjectives. But this week...damn. When I had all my computer
problems, I was going to chuck everything and not deal with this
site anymore. Might have even stopped drawing. Don't know. Anyway,
for some reason iPage likes to charge it's subscribers 15 days
before the payment is due. Not sure why. Last year I had it fixed
easliy enough, I called them this last Monday and thought I had
it taken care of.
Until I checked my bank account on Wednesday, and found myself
overdrawn by $80. I called them up to see if they could reverse
it and I'd pay them later. They said okey-dokey. (Not an exact
translation, but you get the point.) Later that afternoon, I
check my e-mail to receive a 'We're turning off your account
and deleting all your files, tah tah, so long, you don't get
any fish' e-mail from iPage.
So I had to call them AGAIN. Turns out if they charge you
and you say stop, unless you have another credit card to charge
they cancel. Blah blah blah. Luckily I got to deposit my check
early, so that catastrophe was averted. They didn't delete my
site, it was all their fault but I was still charged. Man, if
I didn't already drink, I'd start it up.
On a technical note, I may have to start lower the point size
of the font. It looks a little big on some of these pages. I'll
start to fiddlin' with it over the next few weeks.
So anyway, all of y'all have a great weekend. Hope it is as
quiet/loud/productive/lazy as you or need. See y'all on Monday.

HAH! I just noticed I did it. I put 2011, instead of 2012.
Oh well, if that's the worse that'll happen to me that'll be
a good thing. Just marking time until the apocalypse later this
year. Kidding. I know that the Mayan's had a thing for the end
of one thing, the rebirth of the new, but there's that curiosity
of the maybe. I blame comics/movies/tv shows and a very healthy
overactive imagination. It'll be like the whole Y2K thing. We
KNOW nothing was going to happen. But when images of the new
year came from that first city, and the lights didn't go out
and computers didn't go bonkers, everyone gave a big exhale.
Don't deny it.
Dead begin to rise. Biblical plagues. Alien Invasion. Time
traveling cyborgs. It ain't goin' to happen, but it does give
the imagination a good exercise.
It's Wednesday! Go Buy Some Comics!

I have returned.
Originally, I was going to have a Recap week. Once a day for
Monday through Firday I'd put up a broad overview of what has
gone before, but by the fourth page I was only a third a way
through the pages. So I just returned to posting the pages I
had already done, before all of the unpleasantness. Not only
my computer problems, which was solved by my new Christmas HP
laptop. Shout out to my cousin, Kevin for that.
But also the passing of my Aunt. My aunt Mary was the oldest
of my Grandma's children, my Mom was second. She was also my
godmother. She passed suddenly the Tuesday before Christmas,
and we buried her on that Friday. Luckily, my family has a tendency
to celibrate the life and not mourn the death. She had no children,
she had her nephews and nieces for that. Right now, we are taking
care of all her will and her wishes.
It was a rough couple of weeks for me. I think everythings
back and up and running, but I don't want to jinx anything.
For those that have Netflix. 'Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil"
is one awesome movie. Hillbillies and College kids, what could
go wrong? Heh, heh, heh.
Later. |
