Art Fun Fact: There were changes to the room Judah finds him
in. I knew what type of room he would find himself in. I knew
I wanted there to be a row of pictures of constellations ringing
the room. The problem was to make the pictures look level.. I
looked through my drawing and perspective books on how to draw
perspective on a circular, or round, room. And I found nothing.
Everything I found were the average everyday square rooms. I
looked through my books and checked a variety of web-sites to
no avail. Nothing. So I just winged it.
For those who were blissfully unaware, I do that a lot.
I made the constellations out of rock, as if salvaged off
cave walls and installed in that room.
Remember, nothing tomorrow. I will update on Thursday and
Friday. Have a good Wednesday. Go buy some comics.

All of this weeks is done. I am working, and re-working next
weeks. I was trying to get ahead, but to no avail. Oh, well.
Well, I watched my DVD of Barbarian Queen and The Warrior
and the Sorceress. The Barabarian Queen was truly awful. It was
only 71 minutes long and felt like I was watching the extended
cut of Gone with the Wind. Granted the gratuitous nudity and
carnage was fun, but there were only one or two 'actors' seemingly
involved. However, the Warrior and the Sorceress was a lot of
fun. David Carradine hamming it up , as 'Kain', nonetheless.
The Sorceress runs around refusing to put a top on. It ain't
up to the original Conan or the Sword and the Sorceror, but it's
still enjoyable. Now the two Deathstalker movies had commentary
tracks, due to them being on DVD before, but the Barbarian Queen
and the Warrior and the Sorceress had something even cooler.
Trailers. As in, you hit play and the two trailers play before
the movies. You can't click them off, you have to watch. I thought
that was cool. Barbarian Queen had Streets and Angel in Red,
and the Warrior and the Sorceress had the first two Deathstalker
movies, for those that are curious.
Been reading my comics that I bought and I worked my way through
the Atlas ones. Good to middlin' the lot of them.with the exception
of one issue of Kid Cody and the Cheyenne Kid. The characters
never team up, even though the logo makes you think they do.
However, the Kid Cody story was drawn by Doug Wildey. Some of
you know him as the creator of Jonny Quest, and some of you know
him as the creator of the comic Rio. Awesome.

I don't really plan to end every weeks pages with a cliff
hanger but it seems to work out that way more often than not.
This page and the last one was where the dialogue had to be re-worked
and re-worked until it came close to what I needed for the story
and the page itself. I'm halfway through next weeks. More dialogue
and page layout changes, because this twist you see above you
was not what I had planned. There was going to be something different
going on. A bit more action and chasing and the like was going
to happen. I'm not adverse to that stuff, and I'll be doing that
stuff in the coming weeks, but I this bit come to forefront of
my brain and I had to use it. There were a couple of story points
that I wanted to do and the other ways I was coming up with were
a bit clunky.
Okay, then, everyone out there, Have a Great Weekend!

'That was loud!'
Hah! That line made me a laugh when I wrote it. Sometimes
lines just lie there no matter how much you work on them, and
sometimes they just pop.
So last night, I was hangin' with some friends and realized
I had not bought myself a birthday present. There are a few things
I want to get. I have to spread them out a bit, but last night
we were at Movie Trading Company and I saw one of the DVD's I
wanted to get for myself. Roger Corman's Cult Classics: Sword
and Sorcery Collection. With such 'classics' as Deathstalker,
Deathstalker II, Barbarian Queen and the Warrior and the Sorceress,
I had to have them. C'mon, it's '80's sword and sorcery movies,
I know some of you are rolling your eyes at this, but some of
you are going to buy a copy soon. Swords, excessive violence,
frequent nudity, questionable acting, cheap special effects and
derring do. Each under 90 minutes long. If you were in the 15-18
year old range when these came out, you'd want them too. And
at ONLY $20, it couldn't be passed up.
I could have got it at Amazon cheaper, but I'd have to find
other things to not pay for shipping, and there are things I
want to get, but can't afford right now.
I know what I'll be watching this weekend. With the exception
of Deathstalker, I got home early and just had to crack one open.
And if those godawful 'Gor' movies or Ator or Yor, Hunter
from the Future came out on DVD, god help me I'd buy those damn
things too.

This week I'm going to try something different. I'm going
to post the next two pages on Thursday and Friday, instead of
Wednesday and Thursday. I feel like I'm losing some people with
the three day 'not-posting' thing. They seem to eventually come
back, but I'd like to have steady thing going on. Of course,
with an adventure comic like this, some people may wait until
a few pages are done and catch up that way. For those that look
everyday. THANK YOU. I greatly appreciate it.
In full disclosure, last night I did some design stuff for
next weeks pages, but no actual drawing. The original "Dune"
movie was on, and I just had to watch. Man, great actors, great
design work, great costumes and a critically acclaimed director
can turn any 'sure-fire hit' into a WTFfilm pretty easily, can't
they?
But I could not stop watching. |
